Flexible bearings
A flexible bearing (also called a flexible ball bearing or wave generator bearing) is a specialized thin-walled deep groove ball bearing designed for use in harmonic drives (strain wave gears).
Its key feature is an ultra-thin outer ring that allows reversible elastic deformation — the bearing temporarily changes from a perfect circle to an elliptical shape under load, then returns to round without permanent damage.
